Deadline to apply: Monday July 11, 2016, 1 pm PT / 2 pm MT; Registered non-profit and public organizations, school districts, First Nations and local governments are eligible; Recreation Infrastructure Grants is a three-year, $9-million program that focuses on the construction of new and/or upgrades to existing recreational infrastructure in the Basin. The program will support community efforts to create recreational infrastructure that encourages residents to live more active, healthy lifestyles. This includes structures such as backcountry trail networks, swimming pools, ice rinks, curling arenas, sports fields and parks.

Description: 
The Infrastructure Planning Grant Program offers grants to support local government in projects related to the development of sustainable community infrastructure. Grants up to $10,000 are available to help improve or develop long-term comprehensive plans that include, but are not limited to: capital asset management plans, community energy plans, integrated stormwater management plans, water master plans and liquid waste management plans. Grants can be used for a range of activities related to assessing the technical, environmental and/or economic feasibility of municipal infrastructure projects. Intake deadline: January 17, 2018.

On November 12, 1995, the sport and recreation community in BC lost a dear friend and colleague, Bobbie Steen. Bobbie left a lasting impression on BC through her passionate dedication to advancing girls and women in physical activity and sport. As part of her legacy, an award has been established to keep Bobbie’s vision alive. The Bobbie Steen Legacy Foundation has been created to provide financial support to charitable activities dedicated to advancing gender equity in physical activity and sport and/or the community betterment resulting from female involvement in physical activity and sport. The Bobbie Steen Legacy Foundation Award in the amount of $1000 is awarded to an emerging leader whose dedication to the women and girls of BC parallels those of Bobbie Steen and the Foundation.

RBC Sports Day in Canada, presented by ParticipACTION, CBC and True Sport will be held this year on Saturday, November 21, 2015 in BC and across the nation. You are invited to register your community wide event taking place in the week leading up to, and including November 21st - to celebrate sport at the local level, and help build momentum for RBC Sports Day. They can include community-wide festivals, try-it days, open houses, games, competitions, meet-and-greets, tournaments, fun runs, spectator events and pep rallies that celebrate sport at all levels. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is pleased to announce the continuation of the Cycling Infrastructure Partnerships Program (CIPP) for 2014-15. The CIPP is a cost-shared program where the Government of British Columbia will partner with local governments in the construction of new transportation cycling infrastructure. Organizations that want to help seniors make a difference in the lives of others, and in their communities, are eligible to receive federal grants and contributions funding. Projects must be led or inspired by seniors and address one or more of the following five program objectives: - promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations; - engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others; - expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse; - supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors; and - providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or programs for seniors. Founded by ProMOTION Plus and the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), the Girls Only (GO) and Forever Active Bodies (FAB) 55+ grants are part of an overarching funding program geared towards the development of sport opportunities that inspire girls and women to get active in British Columbia. A program with two available categories, Girls Only focuses on supporting girls and women of all ages, while FAB 55+ is limited to women aged 55 and above. Deadline to apply is Monday, February 9, 2015, 11:59 PM PST. Current application deadline is June 4, 2014.
